If there’s one player we can turn to after last week’s hiccup in Birmingham, it’s our skipper Drew Sullivan.
Since he burst onto the BBL scene back in 2004 with Newcastle Eagles, Sully hasn’t stopped winning. In his debut season he inspired the Eagles to glory in the play-offs, scored 27 points in the final game and was recognised as the Championship’s MVP – in his debut season!
When Newcastle dominated British Basketball in 2006 and won every trophy, guess who was leading the way…that’s right – Drew Sullivan. Honoured by four major trophies and the BBL Player of the Year Award, 2006 – he was fast on his way to becoming an all-time great.
He’s been a court pro for over 7 years now, including Commonwealth and Eurobasket experience. Not only is he the captain of our club, he’s the captain of the whole nation. Drew Sullivan is one of the best home-grown players this country has ever produced and rest assured, Sunday’s Cup-Final defeat will only set him up to deliver a backlash tonight against the Jets.
Our local rivals are just 4 points behind us in the league and will be hoping to scavenge off Sunday’s cup failure. But remember Cheshire – when a Tiger is wounded…it is at its most dangerous.
